Reiki Reiki, based on ancient Tibetan teachings, was lost for many years. Rediscovered by Dr Usui in Japan in the 1800's, Reiki was brought to the West in the 20th century. Reiki balances body, mind, emotions and spirit as it releases tension and stress, creating a deep relaxation and feeling of well-being. Reiki complements other therapies and no belief is required, only a willingness to receive the Reiki energy is needed to improve health and enhance the quality of life. Reiki lasts 45 minutes while fully clothed. The therapist places their hands in several positions over the body where Reiki is channelled through the therapist to the recipient. Often a feeling of warmth or tingling is felt. Though extremely powerful, Reiki is safe for anyone - elderly, very young, pregnant, frail or post-surgery. Reiki benefits most ailments as it works in harmony with the body's ability to heal itself, eg stress, tension, anxiety, depression, headaches, ME, arthritis, menopausal problems, aches and pains, insomnia and sciatica. Chronic ailments also respond well. Bowen Technique Simply stated, the Bowen Technique allows the body to reset and heal itself. The work consists of a series of gently rolling connective tissue moves. There are frequent and and important pauses between these moves which give the body time to benefit from each set. By combining moves, both in placement and incombination, the practitioner is able to address the body as a whole, or target specific problems such as: sports injuries, frozen shoulder, tennis elbow, RSI, headache, sprains & traumas, improvement of circulation, relaxation, de-tox, and lymph & vein drainage. The Bowen practitioner is merely a catalyst, setting the stimulus in motion for the body to heal itself. Because the human body is so amazing, self-healing can be achieved with minimal outside influence. A Bowtech session, whether to address a specific problem or to maintain a healthy body, is the essence of simplicity . Kinesiology Kinesiology is a technique used to find and correct both physical and psychological imbalances. Food and substance sensitivity and intolerance can also be detected and corrected using this treatment. In addition there are also specific approaches to complex auto-immune deficiency problems and degenerative disease syndromes. Kinesiology uses muscle testing as a means of accessing the information which is stored in the body's complex memory bank. Gentle pressure is applied to a muscle and the response assessed. The response from the muscles via the central nervous system determines where the disturbances are. Simple corrections are made that reset the body's bio-control centre to restore the system to a better balance. This will improve organ function, stabilise blood pressure, rebalance sugar metabolism, normalise hormonal cycles and strengthen immune responses to viruses, bacteria and parasites. Muscle testing is increasingly being used in the fields of both complementary medicine and conventional medicine (eg osteopathy and dentistry).
