Acupuncture is a system of healing which has been practiced in the East for thousands of years. Although often described as a means of pain relief, it is in fact used to treat people with a wide range of illnesses. Its focus is on improving the overall well-being of the patient, rather than the isolated treatment of specific symptoms.

This luxurious treatment stimulates the blood supply increasing the oxygen level and improving skin tone. Combined with LD (Lymphatic Drainage) techniques, elimination of toxins helps to reduce conditions like sinusitis and puffy eyes. Essential oils, masks, poultices and compresses are used. These powerful essential oils not only have an effect on the face but also the body, through inhalation and absorption through the skin eventually entering the bloodstream. Immediate results can be seen with the skin looking refreshed and more dynamic, features are more relaxed and the face tends to take on a more youthful glow. The by-product of the treatment also gives the client an overall sense of well-being.

Deep Tissue Massage is a form of therapy that particularly focuses on stiff and knotted muscles in a deeper level of the body. The therapist uses slow and deep strokes across the grain of the muscles to release the tension. It can also release emotional stress in the deeper layers of the body. Throughout the treatment the therapist consults the client regarding the pressure level and the areas that need to be worked on.

This is a specialised therapy which is designed to improve the functioning of the lymphatic system and therefore the body’s immune system. This is achieved through gentle rhythmic movements to the skin which stimulate the contractions of the lymphatic vessels. By improving the flow of lymph a greater amount of metabolic waste and excess fluid is removed from the tissues and the circulation of nutrients is enhanced.

This uses a simple muscle response procedure to identify toxins &
weaknesses which are causing ill health. Disease has its root causes in toxicity or
deficiency within the body. The toxins may include: bacteria or viruses; chemicals such as drugs, pesticides or household products; foods or other substances that are causing intolerance; emotional stress that unbalances our body chemistry.
Deficiencies may include: poor diet; lack of emotional support; inadequate exercise.
Patients will be prescribed Homeopathic remedies, flower essences and nutritional supplements according to the issues identified by their muscle tests. Dietary & lifestyle changes may also be suggested if they will benefit a person’s health.

As more people decide on following a healthier lifestyle, visits to the gym or general jogging can sometimes be undertaken a bit too enthusiastically, especially in the early days. Amateur or professional athletes have to train very hard to stay in peak condition. Over-exertion due to intensive exercise can cause a build up of lactic acid causing pain.

Reflexology is a 20th century version of an ancient healing and relaxation technique as old as acupuncture. Like other ancient therapies it utilises the energy that flows along the energy zones (meridians) of the body. These meridians correspond to all the major organs, glands and body parts. Based on the principle that congestion or tension in any part of the foot or hand mirrors congestion or tension in a related part of the body, a trained reflexologist applies gentle pressure to the feet or hands restoring the free-flow of energy to the whole body.

Reiki balances body, mind and emotions as it releases tension and stress, creating a deep relaxation and feeling of well-being. Reiki complements other therapies and no belief is required, only a willingness to receive the Reiki energy is needed to improve health and enhance the quality of life. The therapist places their hands in several positions over the body where Reiki is channeled through the therapist to the recipient. Often a feeling of warmth or tingling is felt. Though extremely powerful, Reiki is safe for anyone – elderly, very young, pregnant, frail or post-surgery. Reiki benefits most ailments as it works in harmony with the body’s ability to heal itself, eg stress, tension, anxiety, depression, headaches, ME, arthritis, menopausal problems, aches and pains, insomnia and sciatica. Chronic ailments also respond well.

The core of the Buteyko Method is to raise awareness of the way the client is breathing, and to use specific, gentle exercises to retrain the client to breathe appropriately for the level of activity they are doing. They will be trained to always breathe through the nose, and for many people, this in itself feels miraculous after years of mouth breathing. Over time, the exercises permanently retrain the chemo-receptor responsible for breathing rates, and many clients will eventually only need to monitor their breathing every so often. Exercises can be resumed in any stressful period to prevent a return of symptoms.

Nutritional therapy is the application of nutrition science to promote health, peak performance and individual care. Based in the Functional Medicine paradigm, nutritional therapy seeks to address the underlying causes of poor health rather than addressing symptoms alone. In nutritional therapy, the ‘one size fits all’ approach is completely absent as each programme is bespoke to the individual’s health, medical history, diet and lifestyle.
Nutritional therapy uses diet & lifestyle adjustments bespoke to the individual to address chronic health concerns such as:
